Hominy Bread Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup boiled hominy
11/2 cups milk
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup white flour
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon shortening
¾ cup molasses

Procedure

  1. Put hominy in a bowl and beat with a fork.
  2. Pour milk and molasses over the hominy and continue beating.
  3. Mix in cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and soda.
  4. Add mixture slowly to the hominy.
  5. Add beaten egg and melted shortening and mix.
  6. Place in greased baking pan.
  7. Bake at 375 degrees for about 35 minutes.
